After qualifying as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1987, Aubrey set up and ran the capital allowances practice of a "Big 4" accountancy firm before establishing Capitus with Kevin Meyer in 1997.
He is primarily responsible for ensuring that Capitus is kept up to date with developments in HMRC procedure, technical developments in legislation and current case law relating to capital allowances.
Aubrey has particular experience of setting up structures where the value of the capital allowances is used to the mutual benefit of buyers and sellers in property transactions. He is especially interested in tax depreciation in overseas jurisdictions and the new capital allowances reporting requirements of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
Kevin Meyer BSc (Hons) MRICS

Kevin has been a Chartered Surveyor for over 20 years. He started his career in traditional quantity surveying before joining the capital allowances division of a multi-disciplinary surveying firm in 1986. He then set up his own practice in 1993 specialising in capital allowances valuations and in 1997 he established Capitus with his co-director Aubrey Calderwood.
Kevin has acted for some of the UK's largest property investment companies. He has also carried out exercises for a variety of major multi-site retailers and has successfully advised on a range of major new build and refurbishment projects including numerous shopping centres and several PFI schemes. Kevin is responsible for further developing the Green Development Incentives Division within Capitus. This will advise on the environmental and regeneration tax incentives that will be the focus of the Government property development policy over the next decade.

Nick Small graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1995 with a degree in Quantity Surveying before becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 1997.
After working in the commercial property industry for a number of years, Nick joined a "Big 4" accountancy firm in Leeds where he set up and ran the capital allowances practice advising a range of corporate and owner managed businesses throughout the North of England.
Nick joined Capitus in 2001 and specialises in capital allowances issues relating to large institutional property owners. He has particular experience of the hotel and leisure sectors and has negotiated many claims for capital allowances with HMRC.
